| What
is a product disclosure statement or PDS?
A Product
Disclosure Statement is "the point of sale document that outlines
the significant features of the products, including its risks, benefits
and costs."
A Product
Disclosure Statement is a document required by the Corporations Act
and contains information designed to assist you in your decision
about whether or not you purchase the policy.
Every
Insurance Company will have their own Product Disclosure Statement
and it can be given in printed or electronic form.
In
general terms, a PDS will cover the following:
- The
name and contact details of the Insurance Company
- The
essential features of the financial product that is being offered
- The
significant risks involved with holding the product
- The
dispute resolutions system the covers complaints by holders of the
product and the access to that system
- The
cooling off period that applies to that PDS
